I am just curious...I have a red cap that has been growing for quite awhile.  However, I think it is extremely thick.  The caps that I have seen in the store or in personnal tanks seem thin compared to mine.  Does anyone know if it matters how thick it is?  Is it good or bad?  That was it.  Thanks!

    Probably is flow related...

My green cap with purple rim is very thick... My red not so much and my green is somewhere in between... That said, if we are talking flow the Green with purple rim is placed the highest in my tank and the only one with direct flow.

depending on lighting and flow the growth of any coral will change. there was a guy who did a home study on it awhile back on rc. he took 4 frags of the same coral and placed them in different areas in the same tank some high some low lighting and the same with flow. the growth and colors were crazy on all 4, but none of them looked anything alike. it was weird.
