Moved the contents of my SPS dominated tank over on sat night late. As of this morning everything has RTN'd fully or partially. My challices all brown jellied, and a few of my other lps are showing signs aswell. Zoas seem to be doing 'ok' but arent fully opening. I have done a 10 gallon water change(on a 20 gallon tank) using water from an established aquarium. /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/sad.gif tis a sad day... now all my mini colonies won't be going into my 180 in several months when it was going to be ready. /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/sad.gif
    So goes reefing I guess.

See thats the thing, I have moved the tank...umm 4 times already, no issues what so ever. Two of the moves were to Mich and back. This was just from C'ville to Ia City. I dont really get it /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/sad.gif. But I def have a BUNCH of white sticks now. So much for selling/trading coral for stuff for my 180 build. Is this when people normally take "breaks" from the hobby? I doubt I could handle that anyways.

Come to the tank tour this Sat. and I can give you some "condolence" frags if you like :) Sorry about your coral, hard to say what happened. How did the water test out before you added back everything and after they started dying? Ammonia spike? pH way off?

I have actually been to your house once about a year ago this time! You gave me sold me some very nice zoos! That was right before the switch to halides and the sps spree I went on! You showed me a big tank in your basement that youwere talking about setting up, hope thats the one featured on the tour! /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/biggrin.gif
As for the water, it tested spot on across the board. I dunno really. I have had one piece of acro RTN before, during a flood in my apartment, the drying equipment made my apt over 100degrees and thats when i lost that coral. I am thinking there was one of my corals that got stressed in the move started to rtn and I didnt notice when placing it back in. I have heard/read that RTN'ing can be contagious so that might explain it. But at 4 am everything was hunkydory and at 11am I was the proud new owner of a box of white sticks.

Man josh that sucks!!!!! For those of you that did not have the pleasure of seeing Josh's nano it was one of the coolest nano tanks I have seen. Well when you get the 180 going give me a call and I'll give you some SPS frags to get you started. If you don't rember my number Andy should have it. Sorry about the tank but as nice as it was I'm sure your 180 will be even cooler.

Still no zoanthids opening except for my Purple Deaths, one of my RBTAs split and are all now on the way out I believe. SPS was a total lost now, and one micromussa frag looks to be toast along with my 4 chalices. War coral and prism favia looking VERY unhappy but no tissue loss yet. Blah....

Hang in there! I too, lost most of my SPS last month during my tank move. It stinks but I look at it as an opportunity to redo things. For example, I am not putting any monti caps in my tank. They grow too fast/big for a medium-sized tank.

Ya, atleast my zoas seem to be making it. Just frustrating watching your SPS RTN before your eyes without being able to do anyhting. It just sets stocking my 180 back MONTHS if not a year. Tough for me to swallow, but maybe I'll make some lemonade...
