We currently live in North Liberty (Iowa City area) and will be relocating to the Des Moines area soon. Our home has a 180g in wall aquarium that I'm not sure what I'm going to do with... not sure if it makes more sense to try to sell the home with it as is or if I should try to move things now or part stuff out here and start fresh later. I don't suppose anyone is looking to buy a house in North Liberty that has an in-wall SPS reef already up and running? :)

I currently think the most likely scenario is I will try to part out all of my corals and some equipment. I've attached some pictures... I need to clean the glass badly but it gives you an idea of the amount of coral I'm potentially trying to part out. The frag tank is plumbed into the main system and located in the room on the other side of the wall.. I'd like to sell the frag tank, stand, and everything in it.

Obviously it would be preferable if someone was interested in a large amount of coral in a single go rather than me fragging little pieces to many people. I'll try to get around to adding more pictures here soon. Let me know if you are interested or if you want details.

    Thanks!
    Eric

I will try to entertain offers from those that are interested in the whole system first. As far as equipment goes I’m not sure if anyone is interested in everything I currently have running or if there are certain things that need to be parted out. I’ll try to provide detail on all the equipment but there’s a chance I’m going to forget some things… so here we go:

Main tank: 180g acrylic with standard 72 x 24 x 24 dimensions. ½” thickness on the acrylic. Black acrylic background with two trapezoidal overflows/returns on the back wall. Tank is about 4 and half years old and has been running in this same location – never moved or stored. I’ve taken pretty good care of the acrylic and there aren’t any significant scratches.

Lighting: Three DIY LED panels totaling 108 3w CREE LEDs – I run these at 75% max or I start burning corals. I also have two Hamilton 400w double-ended MH fixtures with fairly new bulbs.

Powerheads: I have four VorTech MP40wES (with the wireless EcoSmart drivers). One of the wet side powerheads have been upgraded to the new “Quiet Drive” propellers.

Main return pump: Aqua Medic Ocean Runner 6500 (1625 gph)

Skimmer: H&S A-150-F2001 (external) - This is a German skimmer which uses an Aqua Bee pump. Can be run externally or in a sump.

Chiller: JBJ Arctica Titanium Chiller – can’t remember if this is 1/5 HP or 1/10 HP. I’ll try to find out.

Calcium Reactor: Aquatic Systems Design with CO2 tank, CO2 regulator, Eheim recirc pump and feed pump

    Kalkwasser Reactor: Precision Marine KR620

Zeovit Reactor: Vertex 1.5L Zeolite Reactor

Dosing Pumps: Two BRS 2 part dosers (1.1 mL/min) and One Drew’s Doser (1.6 mL/min)

Controller: Apex Controller Standard package - base controller, display, energy bar with 8 outlets, pH probe, and temp probe. I also have the WXM module for controlling VorTech pumps, the lunar module for simulating a mood effect, and the breakout box to tie to my float switches.

Heater: 300w Finnex deluxe titanium heating tube (needs a controller otherwise it’s always on)

    Sump: Standard 55g glass aquarium

    Livestock:
    • 2 Ocellaris Clowns
    • Blue Tang (I’ve had him since 2009)
    • Queen Angel
    • Flame Angel
    • Starry Night Blenny
    • Cleaner shrimp
    • Pistol shrimp
    • 3 large serpent starfish
    • Large frogspawn colony
    • A TON of SPS corals – these will be challenging to remove from the tank
    • 200 lbs of live rock from Tampa Bay Saltwater – I may decide to keep some rock but I’m not decided
    • Oolite sand
    • Assorted crabs and snails as part of a cleanup crew
    • I’m sure I’m forgetting things

Adding some pictures so people can get a better idea of what all is in there. Added some top down pics on the display tank so you can see the challenge involved with actually getting things out of the tank. Also added a top down of the frag tank.. there are some assorted SPS frags and a ton of pulsing Xenias.

Hung from Sea of Marvels in North Liberty is going to take the bulk of the acropora colonies and fish on Monday. I will provide an update on tank contents after that is all taken care of. Equipment is still available.

Ray and/or Jen, I understand that you may be upset about me leaving you "hanging in the wind" for a few hours and I apologize. I am trying to respond to everyone as quickly as I can. However, this relocation has resulted in a lot of time spent communicating with other parties not just related to my aquarium (which isn't quite my top priority at the moment). Thank you for your understanding.
