Well, talking about tanks today got me thinking I hadn't thrown up any new picks or done much of an update in a while. My nitrate went crazy there for a while and I've spent the last couple months bringing the down. In many ways I feel like the problem has brought me and my tank closer together. We understand each other now. I am the tank's *****. Plain and simple.

Another cool thing is in dealing with that problem I've kind of gone to the next level in my understanding of how this stuff works, but also the next level in how to set this tank up for maximum ease of care and have found the equipment that I hope will help me keep it rocking to the next level: a full-on healthy, thriving reef tank.

I also got my DIY chops sharpened a little as I built an algae scrubber. I've never really done as much DIY stuff in any other hobby as I've done in this one. It's kinda fun.

So all in all, things are going good...

Here are some of the latest pics:

Yeah, Mr. Magnificent is pretty great. He's like the zen master of the tank. Nothing phases him. He just abides.

Never did figure out what caused the nitrates to be so high. Got them down to around 40 right now and am working toward zero.

Thanks for all the kind words everyone.

The blenny is named Hiro... he's a starry blenny.

Looks great dude. I still need to come over to check it it again. One recommendation I will throw out there is you might consider moving your apex outlets from where they are, there is higher humidity down there and the risk of splashing to worry about. Otherwise you've come a long way and its been fun to watch!

+1 On what Elliot's saying, I cut a small hole in the side of my stand and attached the strip there, you can always build a small box to slide over if you do't want them showing. Keeps the salt off if you have heavy flow in your Sump area.

    Just a thought.

Good suggestions. I put them there because that spot's furthest from the water.

My next project is to build a skin and canopy for this thing. You with me, Kyle? How much is that gonna set me back?

I had a thread on here a few weeks back with a bunch of pics. I could throw them here a gain large.
