I was reading through and was very glad to hear that you are giving it a go again! I know a lot of people that have drilled 20 gallons and broke one or two tanks before getting it right. I also know that down the road, the sump will make it easier for you to be successful. In my opinion, the larger volume in water is what will make it so much easier to keep your tank stable.

Start off how you are now, and when you get extra money, buy a tank or two for $20 at Petco when they do their $1 per gallon sale or watch for 20 longs on this site, I know one sold for $10 not to long ago. I also know we have a couple people in DSM who have the needed bits to do the drilling, but also TruValue here will do it and last time I needed it done they charged me $10.

Food for thought, I know a lot of people with 20 gallon mixed reefs, and once they get it stocked, they see greater success with a 30 gallon system :)

I dont even know where a truvalue is around here... maybe Coralville. Depending how this goes ive got my eye on something much bigger. Found a 90 that has crazy dimensions. 48x30x12h. Id love to do a shallow reef.

Any hardware store that cuts glass could do it!

I love my 90, but a lot different dimensions!

Good Luck and if you need any help! Ask away!
