We as a Board discussed the situation with the current voting members that are in town. We agreed to stick with the policy of not deleting threads and post.

I am not sure what is going on currently, but we will be discussing this issue and trying to get to the bottom of it. We have a policy of monitoring the site for inappropriate action, but also understand that it is important to not delete threads.

Why would deleting offensive posts or posts that make the club look like a joke be a bad thing? Not trying to start anything, just curious....

It's mostly for accountability. Once a post or thread is deleted there is no way to go back and look at it in case there is a need

Why delete them I mean let the new members see what some of the "girs member." Are really like not saying everyone but there is a pretty big group of them js

Thanks mthomp, I can understand that. I guess I would have to ask though, cant you just screenshot it... or save the thread in some of the other available ways before deleting?

I just feel bad for new members who just joined signing in and seeing all those type of posts. I would think if that is their first exposure to the site, they may not want to become involved in this club...same for potential vendors/sponsors as well...just my 2 cents.

The forum engine this site runs doesn't work quite the same as some others, so certain abilities are different or more complicated, such as thread splitting, merging, moving, etc, and there is not (as far as I can tell) a 'soft-delete' function which would allow a thread/post to be hidden from public view but not permanently deleted. Or at least it is not used.

Stuff like this happens, it's life, and if one post in hundreds per week scares someone off, then they're easily scared I guess and can't see the big picture about the great group we have - which is full of people, of all kinds, and sometimes heads butt and emotions run high when hot buttons are pushed. But it is usually the exception.

After being on this site for nearly 7 years iv never seen " stuff like this happen".
Locking of a post iv seen.
    Love the site.
Was just curious if the Basement bay deleted his own post or mayb they rethought posting something they regretted later?
Just a curious reefer askin an honest question of the board.

Is it possible for Sponsors to delete there own posts? Should be able to put it back if it was posted...

The stuff I am referring to is the mudslinging / cyberfighting. Not the deleted threads/posts - and no, sponsors are not allowed to delete their own threads. Everyone has the ability to edit their own posts for a certain amount of time after initially posting. And once posts are deleted, they are gone forever so there is no way to "put them back".

I agree completly with no cyber fighting/mudslinging.
But this post was simply about Basement Bay makin there "last post" on GIRS.
If and I quote "We as a Board discussed the situation with the current voting members that are in town. We agreed to stick with the policy of not deleting threads and post."
    Who deleted it & why?
Did anyone else read the post this morning?

I saw the post last night when it was originally posted. The post was gone this morning when I tried getting the rest of the Board to see that post.

We are discussing the situation, I didn't not delete it. The other board members can speak for themselves.
