My last post? Not me tho

Somebody deleted it. Will we ever know who? Hard to tell. I'm going to guess it wasn't deleted by anyone that was aware of the BODs do not delete policy. There are some of us that have been on the BOD long enough to know that policy from past discussions, but with the recent transitions in the BOD we have several new additions that probably were not aware of that policy. They may have thought it was ok to delete posts at the request of the person that made them. It is what it is, they are all aware of the policy now. I see no reason to start a witch hunt over it.
Just further proof that the BOD training tools we already had on the table for BOD discussions is indeed a much needed item.

 

Please do educate us on the other times this has happened. I assure you the board is being as transparent as possible, there is no coverup happening. We are taking the time out of our busy lives to try and handle the situations that we are made aware of. The business meeting is right around the corner. To yourself and any other member that does not like the way this club is being run there is your opportunity to come voice your concerns. The BOD does take this club and how it functions very seriously.

 

This is not a big cover up. This is a board of volunteers and sometimes procedures don't get communicated correctly and explicitly. We all have lives and it's not always easy to get things done fast, so just because there are no answers immediately doesn't mean that things are getting buried and people getting protected. The board is trying to resolve this so please just be patient and appropriate action will be taken.

 

The club and website in general are considerably larger than they were. With more people usually comes more problems. I'd really like to see the BOD approached directly if members are having these issues, but it seems some people like hashing out issues on the forums, and then for whatever reason feel the need to drag the club itself through the mud.


It is really too bad it happens that way. If you become involved with the activities and members of the club it really is a great community of hobbyists sharing a common passion.

 

I'm going to bet if you go back and dig a little bit you can find the incident you are refering to. As has been said its the BOD policy to not delete posts. And going back more than a few months you had a BOD that was well aware of that policy.


The membership is what makes the club, its unfortunate that there are those people out there that feel the need to bash others and throw out the inappropriate insults but there are, if we banned a person everytime it happened we'd end up just like RC. Its part of the growing pains of the club, and after Macna the growing pains have gotten bigger. I would love it if everyone could just chill and get along. It would make my life, and the life off the other BOD members a hell of a lot easier. Then we could concentrate on better ways to get members excited about coming to events or better ways to help the reefing hobby. Instead we're stuck figuring out ways to deal with the BS that happens both on and off the forums.


I've you have some ideas on how we can get back to the way things were, I assure you the BOD will listen.

 

I don't know who you sent PMs to in the past year, but they were not relaying the information to the rest of the BOD as they should have been. This is an entirely different BOD this year, so hopefully we can move out of the past and try to get some things resolved. I can say with certainty this years BOD is already working together very efficiently to get some much needed changes around here. A lot of them most members will never see because it directly involves how the BOD conducts itself so thing move more effectively and efficiently through it. Another is the training for the incoming BOD members so they have a better understanding of what to do with the position.

If there is ever a time you do not get a timely response from a BOD members there are other options. Try contacting another member. All the BOD members are listed in a sticky thread in the club business forum. Not all of us visit the site on a daily basis. Send an e-mail to the board using the contact us link that can be found under the About GIRS tab. All the elected BOD members get these e-mails fwd. to them. Make a post in the club business forum. Just remember we do this as a volunteers, we can't always make things happen immediately, but we try our best to resolve issues as we are made aware of them.

Not saying it hasn't happened in the past, and it won't happen, but if you feel there is some favoritism going on within the BOD be upfront about the issues you are seeing.

 

Definitely not directed at you. I know you are a big supporter of the club and are working with the group down in Burlington to try and get the region organized. We need more members like that. Club involvement it what makes this place great.
