Decided to mount my AI a little more properly today, so I went out in search of something that would be kind of OK to look at, but not the $100 or whatever AI wants to charge for 72" mounting rails. I already had some eye bolts and the chains were hung from the ceiling, so I got a couple 70" shelf bracket rails and used those. They fit the AI's perfectly and I have space to hang another 3 units if I alter my hanging apparatus.

All tolled, the rails cost $7 and change and I had to get some hooks, etc. So I was done after spending less maybe $30 if you count all the materials together.

Again, not the sexiest, but better and more modular than what I had before. Ultimately I'm gonna build a false wall, so these things won't even be visible, so cheaper is better.

Now I just have to figure out where my diamond goby took my hammer coral frag. Somebody lifted it...

Dude that looks great. Although I wonder....maybe you could find a cable anchor and screw 6 of those into the celing above each mount point to give you nice clean straight lines. Won't be as versatile in terms of moving the lights up and down, but once you get them set you can just tinker with the intensity. Nice work! love those track lights btw, you should put LED PAR bulbs in there lol Or make them into spotlight cannons!

Looks good, you could even cut the rails down to be just as wide as the two outside fixtures (~65" or so), then you wouldn't have that excess on the outside and the chain would hang down straight...
