Well now that I have had my 12g nano cube up and running for almost a month now I am searching for anyone here on girs that may have a small nano cube setup that I could get some inspiration from. Also some questions I have. What do you run in your three chambers. What flow do you have. When do you do water changes. How many and what clean up crew do you have. Thanks in advance to anyone that replays. I am hoping I can grow a great tank like most of you here on girs. I would post pics but idk how to upload them onto here. Here's a link to one

I have a 29g bio cube. I run skimmer in chamber 1. Media basket in chamber 2 with chemi pure and cheato. Heater in chamber 3. Two koralia nano for flow. 3 gallon water change weekly.

For a 12g I would look into using chemi pure and purigen. Along with small weekly water changes. That should work well for you. Looks like you have a nice start though. Keep an eye on the nem though. I don't recommend one until the tank has been up and running for 6 months or greater. They like to wonder the tank until things stable out, and with the smaller tanks with lids can be tough keeping alk and ph stable. I run my stock fans 24/7. Just trying it out now to try and get a little more air to the tank. Hope this helps a little

Well when I set the tank up I used my water, live rock and sand from my 55 so it was basically all cycled. But my nem is doing great had him for about two weeks. I just got the red and green caps. Hoping they can get some growth to them. At the moment I only run bio balls in the chambers. And I use a 200gph return pump with no powerhead. Seems like good flow.

Also I don't run a heater the return pump keeps it at around 74. I will look into chemi pure I have a little algae starting to spread. Also i Use tap water with water conditioner, probably why the algae is spreading, just can't afford a rodi set up. I have some hermit crabs comin in next week hopefully they will clear it up.

I don't have a RO/DI unit either. I just use the refillable jugs from walmart for their RO water. I think about 30 cents a gallon. They test TDS weekly on it and 0 nitrate and phosphate on my kits. Figure I change 3 gallons a week (25-30% on a biocube's total water after rock) = $3.60/month or bit over 43 bucks a year which is just fine for me. Be really careful with tap water. You know nitrates and phosphates on it? I filled my FOWLR with tap and have been in a battle with algae ever since, but biopellets have been amazing for that setup.

Thanks for telling me about walmarts water I went and bought some of it today and did a 2 gallon change. Also hart your tank looks great! I need to get a hold of some chaeto and a small light. Also you have any tips on getting the water from Walmart up to same temp as tank

If its just a scoop of water I generally don't worry about the temp, my room and the tank are only about 5 degrees off. Now for a few gallons I mix the saltwater in a bucket and set it in the sink. I plug the sink and run a few inches of hot water around the bucket and let it sit. Pretty ghetto, but works great. I have a digital meat thermometer I check temps with and after 30-45 min the bucket is normally within half a degree of the tank.
