    Hi all
while I await for the vertex controller to become available so I can start the 120 up again, i have been trying to resharpen my reefkeeping skills with my 12 gallon nano.I am very pleased with the tank right now, the corals are growing like weeds and all is looking good accept.....I got flatworms from one of the corals I picked up at Fall fest. I did treat all of the coral prior to adding them to the tank but obviously not well enough.
So i have treated the tank with Flatworm Exit which knoocks them back pretty well but a week to 10 days later they are back again.
Any ideas on how I can get past these pests?Just cant seem to get them all in a treatment, very frustrating!
Thanks for any assistance you might have!
i currently have no fish in the tank if that matters
    Bill

Hit them with what you did before. Suck out the dead ones. hit it again a week later. Suck out the stragglers. Hit it one last time another week after THAT and you will likely see nothing left. This is what I did with FWE on my 10g and I had them fairly bad. IMO a single dose likely won't cut it.

What is the dosage of FWE are you using? I have used it at 3x and even 4x before w/o any problems.

How about a 6 line wrasse or equivalent?

    Thanks guys
I forgot to mention i have treated 3x now each a bit stronger and a bit longer. Last dose was over 20 drops in 8 gallons of actual water. thought I had them beat but they came back quick.
Does a 6 line eat them? and...is my tank large enough for a 6 line? Its a jbj 12 gallon dx
    thankx

    Thanks moneypit

Will that wrass eat flatworm and be able to live in a 12 gallon tank?

In a 12 gallon, I would go with a six line. The melanarus gets too large for a 12.

The other option is to use pig de-wormer (Levamisole)...which I know many have had great luck with. I think you can get it at farm supply stores.

Does a 6 line aggressively eat flatworm?

I know medium/large sixlines go after planaria (i.e. 1 3/4"+). When they are smaller, they can be hit or miss (or maybe it's just that they don't eat enough to make a difference).

I've had flatworms since the very first coral I added to my tank. I've treated several times with FWE and it does a great job knocking them back, but I haven't been able to wipe them out completely. I did notice FWE did a much better job in my tank in the later treatments, most likely due to the Tunze powerheads I recently installed. I imagine some of the flatworms survived on my LR where I had poor water circulation. My next treatment will be a combination of the advice given above. I will try multiple treatments a few days apart and use FWE at a higher dosage. I would like to try a six line or Melanarus wrasse but I'm not sure either would be compatible with my lionfish...errr. FWE is not cheap, so if my next round of treatments doesn't work, I will strongly consider a Blue Velvet nudibranch. The bad thing is that once the flatworms are gone they have nothing left to eat and will starve. The solution to that is to try to find it another tank for it to work on which shouldn't be too hard /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/wink.gif
