/DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/sad.gif For unknown causes, my female clownfish was found dead last night when I got home from work. No signs of anything on her or any of her roommates. Had eaten well that morning. Water tests are all great. Still going to do a water change today just in case but hopefully it was just a freak thing. Either way I am VERY sad. I get very attached to my fish and her name had been Cora and now her mate, Bennie, is all alone. And before I can get over losing my Cora, I need to find a new mate for Bennie. I've seen multiple times when the male loses his female and if not replaced, he gets very mean (ask fishyness for an example). I don't want my sweet Bennie to turn mean so I'm looking for any known female clownfish. She needs to be a little larger than 2" because Bennie is just slightly over 2". We only have little babies at work now so that won't do. I know it may be silly, but I really want a female so Bennie will stay my little Bennie. I think I'll name the new female Erin. So, if anyone has a female clown or knows of where there is one for sale, please let me know, the sooner the better. Oh, and I DO NOT want to split up an already existing pair. One sad male is enough.

    Thanks for helping and listening,

    Kylie

Your going to have to name a specific kind of clown fish since there are so many available.
Sorry to hear about your fish...I hate losing a fish for any reason.

how big is your clown currently? My understanding is often time when the female dies the male will turn female.. you may be better off getting a smaller baby clown then what you currently have which would stay male.

He's just over 2" now. Cora had been about 2.5" long. I think that's how I'll probably go. Either I'll have Sam's true percula or I'll find a cute boy at work or a lfs. How small could I go without risking Bennie picking on the new guy?

You can pair a false perc with a perc? Did not think that would work....

i would just buy another clown, same type. Clowns can change sex. They adapt to their surroundings.

Well, I got to see a video of the Sam's fish and he looks just like a small version of what Cora was, and her and Bennie paired perfectly before she died. They were even both doing that twitchy courtship dance. Hopefully the transition will go ok. Thanks for the help everyone
