I just moved and would like to set up my biocube 29. I have had a 46 gallon bow for years so not new to everything saltwater but the biocube is a little different
For me size how it works in the back that type of thing. So any hints to get it up and running would be nice.

    Thanks Eric750

I have a 29 bio and don't run a skimmer. I replace the cartridge evrery two months. I just switched the lighting from pcs to leds. I just have a bunch of rock covered in mushrooms and 2 black clowns in there.

I also dont run a skimmer on the biocube but use the media trays from http://mediabaskets.com/. I run filter floss in the top rack, purigen in the middle and chemipure in the third. The mediabaskets get rid of the bioballs and allow you to add media, a refugium or Tunze skimmer in the other section. I didnt have luck with the refugium but the chemipure, purigen and filter floss combo worked well for me to keep my tank parameters in check and water crystal clear.

I took out everything and all I run is the cartridge made for the bio cube. No bio balls.

IMO remove bioballs and set up a 'fuge in the back chamber with a LED light. I like http://www.mediabaskets.com/ with the suction cup LED fuge light. You wont be sorry! I don't run a skimmer in my 14 biocube. Here is a bad iphone pic from 8-2013. Just helped a friend with a biocube 29 and poor water quality issues set up intank media basket, remove bioballs, remove skimmer and add fuge with chaeto. In few weeks dropped nitrates from off the charts to 2ppm and phosphate from 1ppm to undetectable.
