Need replacement bulb advice

    I have a used Odyssea 48 inch light. Model MHADVP-48. Unit has a pair of HQI bulbs driven by the Odyssea 250W ballasts that come with it. The unit also has two sets of T5HO (4 bulbs) The unit is sitting on my 120 gallon (2x4) with the stand offs that come with it.


    Since I bought the unit used, I am concerned about the age of bulbs and want to replace them. I am looking for advice on which bulbs to replace them with. I have no experience with picking out HQI bulbs or T5's for that matter. My other tank is a 29 gallon biocube with a JBJ LED system on it. I love it, and will someday purchase a pair of nice LED fixtures for the 120 gallon. I keep applying fertilizer to my money tree, it just does not bloom fast enough. Looking for a proven combination of replacement bulbs for this fixture. Suggestions please.

    for the price id go phoenix 20k. then u really wouldmt need an supplemental lighting. i had 20k above a 120 and they were 150w. i didnt need actinic lighting because it had a very nice blue tint

    Phoenix 14k for your MH with out question and T5's are up to you. Pick a brand and see what you like. I get Coralife, because they are at lower end of price and do well for me. I also like the color.. I tried Hamilton bulbs and I didn't like the price or the light color. Its a lighter blue with some white in it. I prefer Blue for my Atanic and white/blue for my MH. Here is a picture after I just got my new bulbs on Monday! Other T5 brands are ATI, and Giesemann.
