    Hi everyone,

I got a new reef ready 90g aquarium and am having problems getting the overflow plumbing to seal going into the refugium. The tank was set up when I picked it up and had no issues so it's user error.

Would anyone be willing to help me gets these sealed friday evening (Sorry out of town for work until then). Pizza and beer (or pop if you prefer) will be on me.

    Thanks everyone!!!

    Hey,

Could you post some pictures of the issue?

    Chris,

I don't have any pictures (had to leave for Chicago for work this morning) but it's on the return bulkhead. It's not sealing correctly. The input one sealed just find its just the return one that I'm having an issue with.

    The original bulkhead?

Yes, the tank was up and running yesterday and I bought it, torn it down, and when I set it up the return bulkhead leaks. Something is not sealing correctly but I can't figure it out.

this may be a dumb question, but is the gasket on the flange side? That's the kind of brain fart that I would create.

LOL! I checked that at first. Yes, it's installed correctly but something has to be stopping it from sealing. The tank is fine and the bulkhead and everything else looks fine. Just can't figure this out.

Is the gasket old enough that it might be just stiff enough to not form a tight seal?

Still feels and looks new. Not sure if that could be an issue but I could replace. I don't know enough (yet) about reef ready tanks to know for sure.

Also overtightening is sometimes an issue. That was the issue I had at first.

    Thanks Chris,

Didn't think about that. I'll check it out again on Friday when I get home.

Also check for nicks, small cuts, or cracks. I have a brand new gasket that has a real fine slice/cut in and it would not seal no matter what.

Check to make sure your not on silicon from tank wall. I had this problem with my 220RR.

Got it fixed!!! The return tube was not sitting right on the overflow and it caused the gasket to not sit level on the glass. Got that taken care of and it's fine now!!! I'll get some pics up this weekend.
