Well I made the mistake of adding a eibli's angelfish to my tank. He was well behaved for a couple weeks but now is nipping everything! Has all but killed a orange fungia plate and is working on a few others. Have tried to net him but he's way to sketchy. Also extremely hard to do with so much sps in the way. So I was wondering if anyone not to far away has a good fishtrap I could borrow?

    Thanks Bill

I've had luck with a DIY fishtrap. Basically take a juice bottle with a large enough opening, cut the top part off, and invert and reattach. They swim in and can't find the opening to get back out. Lots of videos online for making one.

There was an actual fish trap someone in the North Liberty/Iowa City area had but I'm not sure who that was.

I've done that before as well. Problem is that as soon as it hits the water my blue throat will be on it.

Ok threw together a trap made out of a two liter bottle. Also cut my hand with razor blade. So we're making progress!

I caught mine several times using a see through juice container with a string. My Eibli loved Nori so I poked a hole in the bottom and used long string to tie a Nori clip to the inside of the container. I cut off the top of the bottle but I did not reattach it. That way I could take it out and reload the Nori easily if I needed to. It worked like a charm, it stayed in place and he had to go inside and work on the Nori which gave me time to yank the trap up with him in it. Really easy to do! Good Luck! PS ....I used a scissors to cut the top off and for making the holes to run the string through. I know I am too clumsy for a box cutter : )

Like the string idea, you could probably set it up to move the bait as a tease.

Probably try this tomorrow. The two liter isn't working at all. Well I guess I did catch both of my clowns lol.

If you do,try it, the long string went in one hole in the bottom and looped around the clip and back out a second hole in the bottom of the juice container, mine was sunny delight, kind of frosted you could see him in there but it was not completely clear, I think this made him feel safe after a bit to go in and take his time eating. I wrapped the sting around the bottle and tied it in a bow so I could untie it and not have to re string, I just loosened the string and let the clip fall through the mouth hole still attached to put Nori on and then re tied it. The top was cut off the approximate size of my fish but not so big as I could stick my hand into the bottom of it. I tied ta second string that I pulled it up with to a hole I made near the mouth of the container. Hope that helps explain it. Also if you soak the Nori in something the Eibli really likes it will attract him faster.

I have a fish trap also you can borrow, I would have to measure it for the dimensions. I work in Iowa City so that is about as close to you as I get. Let me know if you are interested.
