Okay, I am strictly entry level when it comes to web design. I have been using the editor built into 'Seamonkey' browser to do simple web pages for our club. (I'm in the Waterloo/CF Coin Club) I mean really simple so far. I have tried using templates that I download, but when I upload them to the site, or try to view them in a browser (any browser) the text shows up in the wrong places and none of the borders, backgrounds etc. show up. I have tried several different templates from different sites, and I've tried templates that are supposed to be 100% standards compliant, but nothing works. What step am I missing? This is supposed to be a WYSIWYG editor, but I ain't gettin' what I see.
    Thanks,
    Mark

Seamonkey isnt the greatest for WYSIWYG editing. If you are hard coding the site I recommend Notepad++. If you want to play with designing it in a 'live' like setting Dreamweaver or MS Expressions is pretty good for that. I have 8 years of design under my belt but trust me it is a pain in the rear trying to get hard coded pages and a template to work together. Are you looking for static pages or a content management system like GIRS uses? For a CMS I'd recommend DragonFly. I've worked with Drupal and Joomla and they just seem to bulky. Wordpress is just a gloried blog and looks / functions much like Twitter. If you are looking for a web based plug and play site creator where you build the site via the web page itself, Concrete5 looks pretty good once you learn how to navigate through the mess.

If ya need any help dont hesitate to ask.

Thanks for the info. Our needs are pretty simple. Just text with a few images and links. I can make the links and everything work fine, but the pages are all plain text. I'd be happy with some colored backgrounds and a few borders, but even those don't work with Seamonkey. Eventually I'd like to learn to write the code, but for now I just need to make things a little prettier.

    Thanks,
    Mark

If you want shoot me a PM / E-Mail and I'd be glad to help you and the coin club out with the site.
