Im setting up a 180 gal tank and I have a few ideas about what id like. My question to you all is, if it was your tank what would you do with it? Lighting? Rock types and structures? Etc. Let me have your ideas

I seen a couple where is has very little rock work. Maybe a tower on each side. One guy in Waterloo has a tower on each end coming up, with a flat rock on top of each. It looks really cool

Lighting my new ones with Hydra 26's

Butterfly garden ? That's an idea..... I think the first step is figur out what fish you want before anything else ..... At 180 gal your options are pretty open but fish don't mix

Yeah depending on coral choices, lighting ATI 60 inch 8 bulb Sunpower with a reef Brite blue led strip hooked on front. If all acros go with a 3 250 watt radiums. I would do probably 3 or 4 rock islands and connect 2 with an arch. That's what I would do with a 180. And a big as skimmer.

Thanks for the replies guys. My original idea for the lighting was to run 3 kessil 360's. I like the idea of versatility of leds and the ease of programing them, sadly im a halide guy by heart, ive run them since I started in this hobby and I have a hard time hopping away from something I know works. I like the idea of t5s I just dont like the lack of natural shimmer. As far as rock, craig I found a few tanks ive really liked that had the minimalist look. Id also like to incorporate some toga branch rock lower in the tank to serve as swim areas for fish and to add alittle something extra to the sandbed. As far as fish....ill worry about fish someday, never been huge into the fish side, theres a few I really enjoy but honestly if I could suppliment fish crap to feed the coral I probably would

I would plan out a sps tank that takes into consideration how the corals look when they grow into colonies. I would try to put most of the branching corals behind the tabling corals, leaving plenty of space in between each frag depending on what it is.

Jason you should check out saltysupply.com footer on their website its s actual tank that I came across online but can not find it now. That’s the look I’m going for in the 150 I'm setting up in my new shop. For lighting you should consider the radion G3 pros I was strictly halide but have had excellent color and growth in my sps only tank with them over the last year.
