Good Morning. I just wanted to drop the club a note about the Neptune DOS. I purchased one in December and have it running as an water changing tool.

This device is one of the best pieces of equipment I have ever purchased for the tank. I have automatically exchanged over 300 gallons of water in the last 60 days. Every 10 minutes the DOS drips new saltwater into my sump, and extracts the old saltwater at the exact same rate. My salinity has been rock solid and I haven't done a physical water change in over 2 months.

The device itself is extremely precise - it drips the exact amount every time. I suspect it works even better as an additive doser.

Anyways I would have no problem recommending this to anyone with an apex.

I bought one also for water changes but haven't programmed it yet. Have the lines all hooked up just have to plumb the drain

I have been thinking about an automatic waterchange system. I am still leaning with getting a pump with 1 motor for both heads so if there are problems or slowing the addition/removal will both be impacted at the same rate.

Not too spendy, I think you can find them for less.

Not sure what system to use...

Do you also have a salinity probe or checking manually?

I have been looking at litermeter to set up auto water changes, but this might be a better option being I have an apex. I'll have to take a closer look at it now. Thanks for the review Jim.

Control and precision, it sounds like its in the same league as the litermeter pumps and controllers. Another seemingly expensive piece of equipment, but one that you rarely see anything bad written about, and more often than not described as "the best purchase yet". Something that I was ready to pull the trigger on, but since reading about the DoS I have decided it would be better simply because its run by the APEX that I already have.
Price seems a little high, but it also sounds they went all top of the line for pumps and motors. It may be overkill for a reef, but longevity and long term reliability hopefully come with it. I know I have shelled out some cheaper made dosing pumps after as little as a year. I would have probably placed an order for a DoS already, but it seems everyone is out of stock. Hopefully they come out with a single pump unit add on. I could use 3 pumps, but can't see a need for a 4th just yet.

I have sold several of these in the past few months for both water changing and dosing. So far the reviews here at the store have been positive with a couple customers buying a second one for other systems.

Do you guys happen to have any, or getting any soon? Seems like everyone is sold out at the moment
