Never ever ever buy a stealth heater.  Mine just blew up in my tank.  Needless to say i am really pissed off right now.  Luckly it happened when i was home but zomg i can't believe it.  I heard the horror stories and said to myself this well never happen to me.  WELL IT DID.  I think i caught it in time but wont really know till morning.  I plan on doing 20 gal water changes for the next 3 days so hopefully that will get all the toxins out.  That and a crap ton of carbon!  I will NEVER AGAIN buy another stealth heater.  Its just not worth it!
    Vent Done. ZOMG

Sorry to hear about it, Joe! I hope your livestock will be unaffected by it since you acted quickly on it.

Eheim Jagers are also good heaters; I have 2 of the new ones and an old green one that is easily 7 years old.

Sorry to hear about the issues Joe. Sucks!!! Especially since I know you have some really high end corals in there. Every single Stealth heater I had eventually swelled and split. I'm 100% Ebo Jager now with no problems to date.

huh....I've never had a problem with one, of course that may be because mine is on a controller.

    Kindest regards Joe.

I have been using one for about a year, no problems other than the red led does not work. I have been thinking about changing it out anyway...

Sorry /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/sad.gif I know your pain, as I had one go bonkers in my tank and electrocute all the fish........my tank hasn't been the same since it happened. Do many water changes and run lots of carbon, but you probably already know that.

Wow...Look at this thread. According to the poll, almost 50% of the Stealth heater owners have had them fail.

update...... for now all of my acros and montis have lightened up but everything is still alive for the time being. my zoas and chalices weren't affected all that much and have already recovered. i returned both my stealths and went with a 500w titanium on a controller so should be know issues. ill keep posting as thing head one direction or the other. thankfully my flame wrasse and firefish school seem to not be affected. but haven't seen my mandarin yet /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/sad.gif

I wonder if there's a difference between the ones that they're producing now and the one that I have (which is like 5 years old). Sounds like they've revampt and added an led indicator light?
