It's so perfectly miniature! *rubs hands together menacingly*

are you plumbing it into a larger system? or will the sump be inside the stand? and do you have pix of the sump?

The sump will be the 5.5 gallon tank i currently have. It must fit inside the stand that I have now. The pics of my sump are gonna be done during the transfer to the new tank. Gonna be designed ,but a little adhoc.

sweet, hey your using leds on this are you keeping sps? This little 7.5 is going to be sweet! I have a 3 gallon that I've been wanting to set up for a long time now, but I've just never gotten around to it! lol The nano tanks are kewl because they can be done in spec with one specific concept in mind, relatively easily.

I have a Bali slimmer that's growing ok so far but I just got my ph in line. Thanks to my ac3. I have a reverse superman,a cyphesteria. Zoos , candy canes orange and purple montipora. Orange going good purple slow. Hoping better light position and more room will help these take off . Can't wait for spring fest

Oh yeah the overflow is 1 1/2 inch PVC because the return line will be in it as well. It will all be conceled by the rock work.

Wow, now I want to see that, kudos for slick engineering! That's my favorite part of this hobby.
Yeah IDK about spring fest for ya there, sounds like you're already got tooo many corals! lol give it a good year of growth and that slimer is going to be the size of your fist!
I have 35 different corals in my tank, and I keep finding room for more. I'm actuallly working on adding some new rock structure soon just to accomodate more corals! lol

Ok I got the overflow dremeled out and the rock work is starting to come together. Still working on the plumbing, will have that done tomorrow . andcemented together/Portals/0/activeforums_Attach/100_2094.jpgt/Portals/0/activeforums_Attach/100_2095.jpg/Portals/0/activeforums_Attach/100_2096.jpg/Portals/0/activeforums_Attach/100_2099.jpg/Portals/0/activeforums_Attach/100_2100.jpgThe whole in the side of the overflow is where the return hose will come out. My dermel talents need some improvement but this will never been seen anyway. Rock will cover it up.

Looks good Erick! I would still recommend painting the pvc overflow with krylon fusion spray paint or epoxy sand to it for a natural look. I'm excited to see this put together! I forgot, what did you plan on keeping in this tank again?

Adam you will never see the overflow it will all look like a mountain , Actually i just realized its to short i have to redo the pipe lenght. No Problem though, just make a bigger piece .The Rock will actually come out of the water with the mangrove i bought from you guys at AC&C my new favorite place. I HAve to Say you Guys at AC&C are really helpful and informative. Also Thanks again for the drilled hole , rock, mangrove , neptune orp probe, bulkhead, rubblerock, . I will be putting in all my corals from my 5.5 gallon nano. Some sps, Lps, pistol shrimp(maybe) and my two black clowns .

OK, not trying to tell you how to do it, but if you have a bunch of rock piled up around the teeth of the overflow by the surface of the water, you won't get as good surface skimming. If the teeth on the overflow standpipe have access to the entire surface area, you'll get better skimming and better waste export. Just my .02, good luck!

What about that hole where the return will come out I assume, seems low, are you going to have a swing check valve in your line? or are you going to run the return out and angle back upward with it? Because I would suggest comming straight out the top and then putting a 90 deg on your return line, maybe then loc lining it down into the water body. Otherwise, when power goes out your going to siphon water back into your sump all the way down to that return hole.

I was going to put a check valve in the line to prevent back flow. But Andy don't stop with the advice because the way i have been going today i forgot all about it . Adam the rock wall will go all the way to the top of the start of the teeth for the overflow. The cap for the top of the rock will be made so that it doesn't interfere wilth the surface skimming. sort of like a hat that just prevents you from seeing the overflow but you see the water running into the rock wall. I hope i explained that ,i think i even confused myself . Please guys keep up the advice all around I need it ,rather catch it now than have to tear down later. Thanks all around guys.

Ok this is the plumbing idea so far . The return line will go up a hole through the plumbing on the right. I plan on sealing that side of the plumbing up on the inside so that only the hose passes through it.My ? is this. will there be excessive drain noise from the  overflow with such a straight shot down?

the noise....yeah probably lol, you can always throttle the flow back a little bit so it's not gulping, an excessive flow rate isn't nessesary for the application at all you should be able to get it pretty quiet with just 200gph of return flow, you could go more or less if you wanted to.

Are you using 1/2" return line? I would loose the 90 deg elbow comming off that 1 1/2" T to the right there, and just drop your 1/2" pvc down and fit a 90 deg elbow to come out where that T is, and then silicone the hell out of that arm of the T. You might even fit the elbow for the 1/2", and then cut a piece of 1 1/2" pvc and glue that in to make a smaller diameter that you need to fill with the silicone.

i also agree with andy but instead of siliconing the crap out of it you could get a 1 1/2 pvc cap and drill a hole in the center of the cap whatever the actuall size of the 1/2'' pipe is and then silicone the pipe around the cap

Yeah you could do a cap the other thing I was thinking but didn't say was what about a bushing?
