As of right now I have a 20 gal SW FOWLR tank with calcium substrate and 10 lbs of live sand for the bottom of the tank some live rock, two canister filters and a sponge filter with 2 crabs, 4 nerite snails, 1 yellowtail damsel and 4 mollies that I cycled the tank with, 1st week of Oct will be adding two false percula clownfish.  Tanks has been up and running for 3 months and just added the damsel and the crabs last Friday.  I want to take at least a yr to  get some experience in the SW tank and then the plan is to convert to a Reef Tank.  I also have 12 FW tanks containing my guppy breeding program (food for the cichlids) 2 tanks of African Cichlids, various snail breeding programs, and my daughter is starting with two platy breeding programs and some frogs etc. etc..  We did alot of planning and research before we started the SW tank but we still have alot to learn on the practical side, oh ya I almost forgot the protein skimmer is supposed to be here today.  We started the tank with a 10 gal canister filter and a 20 gal sponge and then added the 20 gal canister filter last Friday (had to order one) and since I don't need the other filters right now I just left them in the tank until the protein skimmer comes and I get everything set then I will probably take some filtration out of the SW tank.  I have a FW quarantine tank but not a SW one yet, in a pinch I can use the FW quarantine as there is nothing in it at the moment.  My LFS quarantined the damsel and crabs for me and she is doing the same with the clowns, she got them in last week but we will quarantine and then I'll add them in 2 weeks trying not to add too much to the tank at a time.  My LFS is great to work with I sell stuff to her on the FW side of things and she sells my extra snails for me.
