I would eventually like to get a new light for my 90 gal some day.  As I am sure most of you get the Dr Foster and Smith catalog, I saw this light in it.
    48" Aquaticlife HID light
I know its fairly new to the world but was wondering if anyone has seen/tried this light?  If you have, what did you think?
Also, how many of you run only T5's for your reef?  If so how many bulbs?

If it is the light I am thinking of the real problem with it is the light. It doesn't run standard DE halides or SE halides. It runs a weird base "halide" that no one makes bulbs for. You'd be severely limited in terms of bulb choices due to this.

As I am discovering this on Amazon. They take a G12 Halide. The body of it looks like a CF with the 2 pins and all.

The thing that worries me about that light is that with the bulb and reflector like that I would think there is very little spread. It would be more like a spot light.

The Fish Shack in Manchester has this light on one of his tanks. The nice thing about it is the lights pivot so you have some room on what they point at also he sells aquaticlife products and can will get you lights cheaper then online. I bought a 12 bulb 72" t5 setup from him and he had the best price I could find on that setup.
