Any way that you can get a different tank?? Or Turbo can;t you do an in tank overflow for them?? I hate hang on overflows unless the technology has drastically changed in 10 years for them

You should also have some kind of movement in the tank for oxidation. So a couple of good power heads/gyre/wave maker should be added in the list. If you're going to get into corals then get some reef lights-do your research. And yes, these items can get pricey!

    +1 on RO/DI system
    +1 on a sump
    Have patience!
I did a year of research before I set up my first tank and I'm still learning a lot on here and different forums.

Thank you everyone for the valuable advice. I've been thinking of a tank for a few years now but only seriously looking into it for a couple of weeks. There are a variety of options obviously and I think @mrelaz@mrelaz is right when saying I need to have patience. More research and trips to the LFS are in my future!

I have a nice reef tank for sale 55 gallon. 350.00 everything included, 2 clown fish, fire shrimp, blue crap, lots of life in it... has lots of coral and things. Look in the buy sale group it is the tank in Adel Iowa.

Welcome!! I would say yes to the sump and drilling the tank. I had hang on back stuff and never had issues but I also had nano tanks and didn't make sense to have a sump on a 10 or 20 gallon plus water changes were easy and didn't take a lot of water. Now that I have room and space for bigger tanks sumps are a must IMO added water volume, extra filtration, space for equipment, just all around better. What people said when I started is pick a tank size and go a little bigger. In 6 months or less you will want to go bigger....trust me lol. But also at the same time pick something that will fit your space/needs and go with something you're comfortable with.
