Ive been a member of this site for abought three weeks now but never formally introduced myself. My name is Brian and I live in Waterloo. Abought 4 years ago i took a break from from the hobby. Right before i took the break i bought a 210 predrilled tank but just never got it setup. Ive kept saltwater before but i figured this time i would try a FOWLR. I was told abought GIRS while in a local pet store a while back. What a great club, even found some great deals on equipment! Thanks reef ninja. So here is a description of my setup or what i like to call my money pit LOL
The tank is a all glass 210 with corner overflows
    Sump megaflow 4
    Return pump- Blueline 40x
    Protein skimmer- Euro reeef rs180
Heaters- ranco temp controller with 2 500 watt blueline heater
Uv steralizer- 36 watt corallife turbo twist
Top off system- autotopoff.com i use a solenoid with controller connected to 50 gpd RO/DI by kent marine
Water circulation- 2 model 4 hydor koralia
Lights- weird setup but got great deal on them, Corallife 72 inch with 4 96 watt bulbs and lunars. I also have two 36 inch 2x96 watt corallife aqualight
Live rock- roughly 130 lbs of fiji and tukani rock
Fish- for now damsels and chromis but that will change when i get the tanK fully cycled
I just thought I would also let everyone know  that THE FISH SHACK in Manchester IA has some really nice TUCANI live rock for $4.99 per lb. Ive been dealing with Bill (the owner) for roughly 15 years now and i have to say he has always treated me fairly and his prices are great. His adresse and phone # is under the pet store directory on GIRS which most of you probably already know!
I look forward to being involved in this club and maybe even attending some event's
    Brian

Hi Brian! I am a new member as well. I, unlike you, am totally new to the hobby and very excited about it. It sounds like you have some awesome equipment! Welcome and nice to meet you!

    Hey Brian,

Welcome to the club. There are a bunch of us in Waterloo. It is surprising considering we dont have a real fish store here.

We get together fairly often so check the Waterloo forum for events.

Does the fish shack ever get any nice coral or just fish?

    Thx
    Craig

It would be nice to have a good pet store here but i dont mind driveing to The Fish Shack! It would be nice though to have a good pet store for supplies and such. Emporium pets got new managment but so far it doesnt look like its gonna be any better than before, maybe it will turn around yet. I havent really got into corals so I really never paid attention to what he has as far as that goes. Im sure if their was something you need he could order it for you. Bill has always been really good abought ordering whatever i wanted and saveing it for me! Thanks for rhe warm welcome!

Welcome Brian! I've never been to the Fish Shack but it sounds like it may be worth a trip to Manchester to check it out!

Hey Brian, I am from Cedar Falls so if you need any help just ask. It's nice to have another marine tank set up in the area.

Also, if I understand correctly, you have a total of six 96 watt PC bulbs on your 210 gallon? That is enough light for some lower lighting corals like zoas, mushrooms, some leathers, and non photosynthetic corals like sun coral. There's a lot of people around here that would be glad to sell you some cheap mushrooms or zoas. I just have a few now, but when they start blossoming I'll keep you in mind...
