Just wanted to say hi and wish that I had found the club years ago.  I'm from Ankeny and have been in and out of salt tanks for longer than I care to admit.  The reliable information and technology have made tremendous advances in the last few years.
I'm have a 58 gal that has been set up as FOWLR and want to convert it to reef once I figure out what to do with the Huma Huma Trigger that my wife loves.  I'm using a Coralife 48" Aqualight with 4 - 65 watt bulbs, 2 - actinic and 2 - 10K.  I also have a 29 flat-back with a couple of ocellaris clowns.  Lighting for the 29 is a 48" shop light with one grow light and one "daylight" white.  The tanks are too far apart to easily plumb together but I hope to fix that over the winter and add a used sump that I got from Seascapes.  Speaking of Seascapes I found out about the club from Tim when I saw in there.  I've been having algae problems in both tanks and am looking at RO/DI units - there will be another post about that.
I've already responded to the Des Moines area party on the 9th and hope meet the group and learn a lot.

Welcome to the club. You're in good company....there are many from the club in western Iowa. If you post your Huma in the buy/sell/trade section, I'm sure you'll find a taker. As for convincing your wife...you're on your own!!

Welcome Stew! The Internet has made such a difference in getting good information for this hobby (as well as countless others, I'm sure). When I set up a saltwater tank 15 years ago or so, it was little more than a puddle with various algaes and salt crust. That tank was an epic fail and I'm really happy to see how far things have come since then. Good luck with your tank, and ask lots of questions...we all do. :)
