It just arrived in the mail today. Unfortunately, I don't have anything to try and control with it yet. Hopefully that will change later this week

You got in on the beta testing huh? I've got 2 Vegas I'd love to play with. Wonder how long until they release director.

@Blackx-runner - 2 Vega Colors. Xroads ordered them for me and they are supposed to arrive on Wednesday.

@Waverz - Yeah, I noticed that they posted on their facebook page the other day that they were re-opening the beta, so I jumped in and ordered it.

Right after I bought it, I saw that they hinted that Neptune Systems may be adding support for the newer AI units via the Apex, but I figure the directory will probably have more options anyway.

Setup was really easy, but I can't go too far in without devices to hook it up to.

Sure wish I would have seen that they Re opened beta testing. Now I see there is a possibility of the apex controlling them I might hold off.

It's an AI Director (Beta). Their new wireless/cloud based controller for AI lights.

Looking forward to seeing a club member use it! I have been reading a lot of forums online about it!

I upgraded my sols to Vegas last week. The upgrade has a slight variant in the puck colors as well as frosted optics to help reduce the disco effect. Visually I don't think they are as bright as my sol whites were but the do offer a wide spectrum color tuning. Actually I'm running everything at 100 percent and an using the simple timer with a 3 hour ramp.

So I got my vega's hooked up to the director last night. It's an amazingly easy process and for the most part, the director work very well. There are definitely a few issues that they need to work out yet. For example, I can't get it to reliably save my custom lighting schedules yet. It's also missing a few obvious features (like a way to manually trigger a demo/storm mode).

It's got a ton of potential. I was just showing my co-workers how much fine control I had over my aquarium lights right from my desk. One of the best thing about it is that you can control it remotely without having to worry about firewalls or port forwarding, so it's much easier to access remotely than a normal controller like the Apex.

    So... Thumbs up so far!

Got my director today but didn't get a chance to play with it. Hopefully I didn't jump the gun on this. Look what Neptune has coming.

That's pretty cool, and honestly I knew it was coming at some point anyway. If the director was any more expensive, I might be upset but I figure I'll get a few months use out of it before the Apex stuff comes out and even then it should still have pretty decent resale value.

One question I have about the new Apex stuff is how it handles the wireless control. Will it use the WXM, or will there be a different expansion module that you have to buy. I guess we will see.

Well, here's the answer to my question. The "AWM" module for $129...

    http://reefbuilders.com/2013/08/31/neptune-awm-module-puts-ai-hydra-vega-fifty-wireless-line/

Seems a bit pricey considering the director is only $129
