I am having my 150g start its cycle this last week and the lights i intend to use are on my other system right now. Will not having a light over the system make the cycle slower, or no effect?

Better to have no light to prevent algae blooms as nutrients will spike during the cycle.
When I cycled LR in 2003 it was in a Rubbermaid container with a heater and pump - removing the lid after a day or two was a treat and an odor you don't soon forget!/DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Lights won't affect the bacteria you're after.

Good deal... I cannot wait for this tank to cycle.. i stare at it day after day and nothing changes. I am so tempted to move a few things over, but i will suppress that for now.
