Noise in Tank

    Did you ever wonder why your tank or stand was settling or slowly cracking? I was all these years never experienced such a noise. until I inherited a few random live stock. Like a fool I was under the tank and stand looking up with a flash light at my stand looking for signs of weakness. then it got more frequent and started to see a pattern at night. Then started the Google and the You Tube thing. This whole time it was a clumsy Snail or crab slamming the tank glass....

    Nope I was wrong is 2 pistol shrimp in my tank and it sounds like massive I don't know what!!!!!

    My dad got a mantis on some live rock. Got a new fish and it didnt last 24 hrs, mantis got it. So he took a weekend and took everything out and found it on the last rock in the tank(was a 125 gal). I had some odd noises that I thought was settling. Then I heard it read loud one night. I looked and the cross brace had cracked and the tank was splitting while I was standing there. Fixed with some epoxy, acrylic and a few clamps.

    Yes very leary feeling as u lay in bed. But ya 2 pistol shrimp. You tube it. Makes u think. I have been threw a crack/busting tank, Not cool

    I intentionally added a pistol shrimp. Keeps my yellow watchman goby company. I was surprised how loud they really are the first time I started hearing him.
    Lots of people (non-reefers) don't believe its a little shrimp making the noise when they hear it and ask about it.

    Yes @blackx-runner@blackx-runner we were hearing this the pistol for a long time, I believe he was shy at first, but now he is very comfortable in the tank, But at 3am. and he starts going, it gets your atten fast.
