So I've got the new tank going, its an AIO 24g, but I'm finding the pumps for the skimmer and return to be annoyingly noisy /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/plain.gif  I made a silencer for the airline tubing for the skimmer and that helped, but the hum of these two small pumps is just a tad too loud........its not horrible, but over time, it gets to me /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/crazy.gif  Any ideas for a fix?  The skimmer's pump is mounted with with its suction cups onto a plastic base that slides into the base of the skimmer.  The return pump just sits on the bottom.  Going to try some sort of foam underneath both and see if that helps any, but I'd try another pump if anyone knew of a really quiet one.

what size pumps, and are they internal or external. I'm sure there are some better/quieter alternatives they could be replaced with if you can't get them quieted down.

They're both internal, in the back of the tank like a biocube (this is a Cardiff). Not a ton of room to work with, I dunno. It seems like the skimmer pump is louder, its tiny though! They're just some no-name pumps, maybe something else would be better. If anyone has a biocube type of pump that is quiet, please let me know /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif

I have a quiet one 3000 for my return on my 20 gallon nano and love it. You can still hear it but its very tolerable. Just an option to look into.
