    I have a Oceanic 29 Gal with the regular t-5 18,000K's on it from the manufacturer. I see the 150 Watt upgrade HQI is avalible now but only if you buy the entire tank..does anyone know where i can find that retrofit WITHOUT the tank? (note ebay and craigslist have NOTHING) /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/sad.gif
    I WANT HQI
    let me know your ideas,

    Nano tuners offers the hqi. You will need to get a chiller though with it being in the stock hood. Are you sure it is a bio cube, only asking because I am not aware of them comming with t-5s. I have ordered the 5x6 led lights for the bio cube and am waiting for them to ship. I would talk to waverz if you have question on the hqi. He is running them and told me he wishes he went led. Was saying that it sounds like a jet engine with all the cooling items that kick on when the light starts. I was thinking about running the 70w model they have but for a few dollars more I was able to get the led unit and the guy from nano tuners was telling me that this light would be comparable to the 150w hqi. I would actually recommend calling them and talking to them. Very knowledgable company as well as one of the friendliest people I have ever talked to.

    I would go with the led. A 29 is way to easy to overheat. But if setup right the HQI may not cause a big problem. I still lean to the LED they also drink less power. Shaun

    The new Bio Cubes use the 150w Viper Clamp ons, they are not in the hood. The key question is do you want to keep the hood? If not, the Viper kit is good, but you need a glass top, or if you wanna keep the hood I would go Leds. I personally would say LEDs just because I have Leds over my 12 Gal Nano and love it. Nanotuners is a awesome place to look, and the people that run it have awesome customer service.

    I'm running a 150 HQI from nanotuners. It's awesome, my only real complaint it that the fans needed to keep it cool are fairly loud. I wish I could have tried their LED's but I know HQI's are awesome so I went with what i know.

    Good luck.

    Hey waverz did you use the SilenX fan, or the other large ones they have?

    I used the higher air flow ones, not sure off hand what they are.  Being I run a chiller anyway I might opt for some of the SilenX fans when these go out.

    When I talked to them they said if you want to do sps they would have to be placed directly under the leds if I went with the 3x6. I am waiting for my unit right now. When i ordered it was a 3 week wait. I would call em and ask on wait period. If you call em plan on spending about half hour on the phone because he likes to talk about them. They are filled with knowledge and it dont seem they are just about up selling either.

    Really, SPS would need to be at the top?  Man, that's a total deal breaker for me then.

    Not a problem. I was kinda thinking the same thing. According to ordering date it really should be here around the beginning of april. Of course it will be the last item added to the tank. Cant wait though the nice part is he said installation should take about 30-45 minutes.

    Might want to double the install time for you Nick /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/wink.gif Can't wait to see how this looks. I want to set up another nano someday for a species specific tank and use some of these.

    That's cool, wiring up the HQI was a pretty daunting task, there was a million wires and I soldered and heat shrunk all of them.  It ended up taking 7+ hours.

    Nick is kinda slow, I would say at least triple the install time, his helmet usually slows him down some [IMG]
