First one being that I have a little hair algae problem in my new tank, and it seems to be able to somewhat controlled by Turbo snails, but my question is is there anything else that will eat algae, and my other problem is that my torch just up and started to dissolve, my only thing I can think of is that since I put new sand in and since its going threw a mini cycle that maybe its not the good to keep the torch.

A sea hare will also munch on algae.

Clean up crew, mainly blue legs.
What are your nitrates and phosphates at? Remove their food and you will remove the algae.

+1 on controlling nitrates and phosphates. Fox face rabbit fish, algae blennie, and tangs will eat hair algae

Did the torch form a slime on it? This will happen to LPS and is hard to save things after they get it. I dip with Revive and get the stuff cleaned off. Do you still have an emerald crab? That will usually eat some hair algae and if not find an algae blenny like ninja said. Or you can put a yellow tang in the 29 /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/wink.gif HAHA

Ah didn't realize your tank is only 29 gal in that case your options are blue leg hermits, emerald crabs, snails, and algae bleeny. But I would first find out what's causing the algae such as nitrates, phosphates, or maybe even bad light bulbs

I am guessing some of the problem right now is because it a new tank, with new sand and old sand and old rock so its going through a mini cycle.
