Wondering what I should do between the T5 DIY lights I finally got working and the water?  I was thinking either plexiglass, a piece of glass or nothing /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif  Any thoughts?  Let me know what ya think, pros and cons, previous experience etc.  I should note, this is for a frag tank, so not a lot of risk of fish splashing water up into the lights /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif

If you have fish that are jumpers then either bird netting or eggcrate. Otherwise nothing.

I was thinking I'd try it without anything in between and see how it goes.  Do you get a lot of salt creep on the reflectors/bulbs?

You don't want your bulbs getting too hot and burning out quicker and you dont want your tank turning into a greenhouse when you put a sheet of plexi right on top of it.

As long as there isn't any splashing or bubbling going on, there should be no worry for salt creep.

None they are about 6 or 7 in from the water.

Fawn If it were me, I would want to protect the reflectors from any salt spray. I would use some acrylic to cover the lights. Its way easyer to wipe the lens off then to try and get the salt spay off your reflecors.

    Just somthing to think about!!

I would vote for the egg crate. It will make sure your light goes into the tank and not onto the floor, and in a frag tank it should stop the minor splashes that could happen, and there will still be air movement.
