Well, I've read other posts on this forum, and other forums, about clownfish that turn on their Master and bite the hand that feeds them...literally. I can remember thinking that "my" clownfish would never do that...they're far too nice and, besides, they like me. Well....I was wrong !! I was recently changing the water and cleaning some rocks and the male decided his domain was being invaded and took-out after my hand....twice...he bit me on the middle finger. I guess since he didn't have a middle finger of his own, he bit me on my middle finger as a gesture of "flipping-me-off" and telling me to get out of his tank. Little turd !! Didn't actually hurt that much, but sure did startle me. And he chased me for the rest of the water change - every time I put my hand in the water. I guess now that he and the female are more mature, and they partake in "adult" entertainment, they have more "grown-up" attitudes about invasion of their privacy. I guess they just don't appreciate the fact that it's my tank...not theirs.

What kind of clowns. Oscellaris and Percuals are usually the two nicer varieties.

They are Ocellaris...true, should be tame...but together they definitely have attitude. I even noticed that my Flame Angel has some ruffled fins now. The female chases it out of her way. I'm not liking that either !!

My maroon female loves to bite me. Draws blood every time. Doesn't hurt that bad, but startles the crap out of me. I'm afraid one of these times I'm going to splash enough water to explode one of my halide bulbs.

My clowns did that too. It got so bad that in my 180g the ruled the hole left side, and would come after me if I went in their area.

That's funny! My oscellaris clowns are such wimps, they don't really pay attention to my hand any time I'm close to them. I can usually pet them when I'm in the tank! haha

I wish they were a little more aggressive of their carpet anemone though, I've had two fish that wander around at night swim into the anemone and die(a puffer and a cowfish). If only they would chase fish away when they get close! Those two fish had the most personality of any fish I've had...

Haha, yea I was pretty worried when I saw him in the anemone. I got a small longhorn cowfish, I did a ton of research before getting him and everything said they were the least likely to emit any toxins of any of the cowfish. I ran a lot of carbon before getting him and when he died I did a few water changes as precautions. Everything looks good! I'm sure I'll get another in the future, right after I get rid of this carpet anemone.

My clowns will eat right out of my hands and my big female will follow my hand around in the tank until I pet her then she goes about her way. It is definetly true that fish are as unique as the people that have them.

my two clows, although small (around 1.25") don't much care for me or my hand, but don't freak out as bad as my green chromis and combtooth blenny that scream GODZILLA and do running and hiding for their life every time I get near the tank.

Its going to suck when my red coris gets his teeth. I've had to get my hand under some rocks and he nipped me. Its not going to be fun when he gets his little teeth
