Hey all, I picked up a drilled sump and am gonna do internal pump and skimmer. Can anyone tell me if I can patch the holes with glass and silicone? Will it hold? I could sandwich 2 pieces on both sides.

I wouldn't use that approach - I don't think it will hold and wouldn't want to risk it. You can buy bulkhead that is threaded and get a cap that will screw into it and plug the hole.

What Dave said, bulkhead and plug, you can always paint the plug to match things.

Why not patch the acrylic with....acrylic? A patch properly solvent welded to the inside would be the best permanent fix. If you think you want to use the holes again one day, then the bulkhead and plug is probably the best solution. Definitely wouldn't recommend silicone and glass.

If the hole using the bottom, and there is no flex with water pressure, you can cover the hole with acrylic or glass siliconed over the hole as long as the patch extends about an inch or so in all directions. It's not a structural bond, but doesn't have to be. The pressure will hold the patch in place.
If the hole is on a side panel, I would solvent weld a permanent patch or do the bulkhead thing. It's just safer. A siliconed patch might loosen over time due to flexing/warping.

Travis, You can get them at Pet's Playhouse in Cedar Rapids. They have them behind the check-out counter. If the people at the counter don't know what you are referring to, have them ask "Mike".
