So with time restrictions, I was forced to scale down to a 29 biocube.   Standard PC lights and came out with some interesting results.
This bird's nest was half the size in September.   It's a lot less colorful on camera, but still.  I just wanted to see if an SPS would survive under PC.  Also, my Superman Monti isn't doing too bad, but I can't get a good picture.  It's actually encrusting off the plug onto the rock.

These things have done well under MH and PC.  I seriously don't think they have every changed color at all.

Though my GSP has "stretched" out some, the color is still pretty much there.

    A full frag plug.

This kind of puzzles me.   You'd think these pink palys would have their butts kicked.   Just look at what is all around them.   But some how it all co-exists.   So far.    I'm going to work sometime soon at removing the anemone and fragging off some of the rest.

BTW, that anemone has gone through hell.   He was about as big as a soft ball.   Then I put him in a 10 gall tank and tried to split him by doing 50% wc's.    After that didn't work, I put him back in my old DT and lost him for about three months.   Found him one day in my sump and he's been limping through since.   Right now, he's about 4x bigger than the smallest he ever was.  So it's making it's way back.

Your corals look great. I had PC lighting for quite awhile. I don't think it's as bad as the press it gets. I had very good success with LPS and softies. The only issue I had is that it got hotter than I expected. I now have HO T5s and it doesn't generate nearly the same heat.

Hmmm. This intrigues me. I may consider dropping some birdsnest into my 10g and seeing how she does /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/biggrin.gif

    very nice.

Regardless of perceived "growth" That superman should not be in your tank.... you should bring it to me for safe keeping :)

I moved some stuff around a few days ago.  Here's a pic with that superman monti actually encrusting on th rock.  I really didn't think it was going to survive in this tank, let alone grow.   It's definately gets me thinking about how much light is actually needed for corals.
This tank has also reminded me that skimmers are the way to go.   The biocube skimmer is okay at best, but with the water consistantly fluctuating it's nearly impossible to get it dialed correctly for more than a day or two.
I've basically let this tank go as in maintenance wise.   I have only done one water change in months.  Top off once a week or so.   But I've kept the feeding a constant one cube per day.   There's hair algae and some cyno, but I believe it's due to the lack of skimmer performance more than anything.
When I tear this tank down Matt, I'll frag you off a piece if you don't have one.

I think the bird's nest has grown quite a bit since I posted the pictures about 5 weeks ago.

If you ever want to get some better lighting check out the PC-R's on nanotuners. Direct replacement for PC's and supposed to be more efficient lights

I looked at those when I was buying the cube. I didn't want to spend megabucks on a lighting system for a nano. I got my t5's going here before too long.
