I have discovered some type of Pink Tipped Anemone hitchhiking in my tank. It has since split into 3. They are no bigger than the size of a dime or nickel. I just don't know if it's something I should keep or if I should treat it as a pest. They have a bright green color to them. For an anemone , I would say it's splitting pretty fast. Twice in the last two months. Any Advice??

Mojono anemone, these guys can over take an entire tank quickly. Trust me I know first hand. If you can, take out the rock they are on and break of the areas they are growing on. There are a few other methods but sometimes it just pisses them off and makes them split more.

A picture would help us make a positive ID but it sounds like it could well be a pest anem.  There are many ways to rid them but as Waverz said, you can make the matter worse if done improperly.  I use Kalkwasser...Mix a small amount in an almost paste-like mixture(using tank water or RO/DI) and squirt it on them using an applicator.  Cover them and their holes with the mixture.  Only use what's necessary because using too much will make changes in your water chemistry (will raise PH,etc).  Good luck[IMG]

I took the rocks they were on and gave the rocks a a 5 minute fresh water dip and that took care of the mojonos for me

Sometimes it took a couple doses for this method to work for me.  The real trick is to mix your kalk super thick and use it like cement to seal them in their holes.

Pics would be very helpful.  Going off of what you said about the colors, could it be a mini carpet anemone like the picture below?

This method is effective but it also kills  the "goodies" on the rock too....
Man, just talking about these lil' buggers gives me the creeps, I had a 125 gallon completely over run by them and was part of the reason I tore it down.
    Good luck.

Those mini carpet anemones look pretty cool.  I'd love to get one of those some time.  Nano tank and all.

It's exactly like that picture rockinsmall posted. So is that Mojano. I think it's best if I just kill it. will aptaisia X do the trick?

Well, people used to call the tulip anemones. but, b/c they do spread often, some consider them a pest like a majano. you kinda gotta decide if u like it or not...

Well I have a 34 gallon Solana so space is limited, I would rather have it filled up with corals i enjoy rather than pest anemone. So, their gonna wish they hadn't got into my tank today!

Total pest, they're called tulip anemones and they will sting any other coral they come into contact with, spread like crazy, so get rid of them asap /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif I use a kalk paste with all the powerheads turned off for awhile and just let the paste sit on them.

    Most of the time.....
I had 2 of them pop up in my nano, I have tried Aiptasia X on it several times and all I have been able to do is piss it off really bad until it splits, now I have 4.
That is why I recommend breaking them off the rock if possible which in most cases isn't but it is 100% affective in removal.
