I taped a note below the tank this morning before we opened and still got questioned about him (which is ok). They didnt see the sign so I have now drawn a arrow on tank pointing to sign. And i couldnt throw him away. You can tell in person that he will heal up. The top fin been chewed down but not to the base and red by the gills is surface damage not actual damage to the gill itself so should heal up. As stated I dont have a quarantine tank only ones out on floor. As fellow reef enthusiasts you should want to see him recover as this is one very popular and reconizable fish. I already had people checking back on his status and pry will only have more now. Ill post pics for the next couple weeks showing his progress. Who in this hobby hasnt nurtured a coral back to health and it became one of their favorite pieces. I have a couple of those in the frag tank as we speak.

So please dont notify the tang police as this was not my fault or p.e.t.a. as they have enough retarded law suits going already.

You should do a bunch of stage by stage pics to show his progress, could be really cool

It also appears I jumped on to the boat way too soon. If this is a true rescue, then I drop my case. I send my apology to the owner/s. I should have known to keep my mouth shut, but saw a beautiful fish, in desperate need of attention. Beyond that, please keep us updated on the health and I'm certain your business will grow well beyond your investment in a single patient. Thanks for your determination to help the hobby.

ya agreed if a note was put on the tank maybe saying something like fished got dropped off in this shape trying to save its life not for sale...becasue like everyone else said if i walked in and seen that and didnt know the deal i would prob never go back to that store but knowing the story i think its a awesome thing going on bc you could of easily told the person you did not want the fish or flushed him

Have no fear, I'm sure your honesty will overcome all (if anymore) doubt that exsists. We are all trying to be the perfect example of husbandry, some succeed, alot do not.

that tang has head and lateral line errosion is what it looks like. I have had success treating HLLE in blue hippo tangs when I worked at petland. a healthy nutritional regime really seemed to make an improvement. Although, if the reports are true, it could have simply been a lack of exposure to activated carbon. I would use some selcon and kelp strips.
there is a point at which you should seriously consider euthenasia. If the fish fails to recover within a reasonable amount of time or fails to show signs of improvement (arbirary I know) and if he has elevated blood cortisol >200ug/ml. (of course not everybody has access to testing, there are reference labs for anybody interested pm me)

I commend you for even trying. Much respect. Sorry anyone jumped to conclusions. Appreciate your professionalism in responding to the topic, too. Not sure most of us would have responded this way!

Wasn't specifically asking you, however I am addressing you now, hence the quote! /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/wink.gif You were just the one that was able to say what I am sure plenty of people were thinking. I see far too many animals die because their owners give up and far too many live whilst suffering because their owners can't let go. We also tend to anthropomorphize animals (I did it in my initial question of euthanasia) because it is, frankly, a little easier to understand them. It isn't even clear to what extent these animals in our tanks perceive pain and suffering.

I have to know, what was it you hoped to accomplish with this post? Aside from looking like a drama queen, which you pulled off brilliantly I might add.
Why didnt you just ask someone there what the deal was with the fish?
Nick you are still a mangina! [IMG]

Nick Nick Nick always causing trouble/DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/laugh.gif Just kidding old buddy, good job on the recovery effort. People always jump to conclusions at pet stores about dead and damaged fish. If you guys realy want a store to protest try the coral reef in Burlington, it's a real nightmare.

I have seen this fish personally just a couple days ago. It is making a good recovery and this situation could have been much worse this fish could have died at least someone stepped up and took the fish in to give it a fighting chance at survival. This is a very good example as to why you should do some research before you just throw a bunch of fish in your tank. Pets Playhouse doesn't deserve to be treated like this is their fault just because they put it out for display at least they are making a statement. And i would like to add that it worked seeing as this thread is at 2 pages long already, which means its met a lot of peoples eyes and probably pulled a few heart strings. We just get to hope that people will learn to be a little more responsible with their tanks. Just a note there is a sign posted on this tank that says this is a rescue.

Respectfully, I think the point has been made that that OP jumped to conclusions. No reason for a 10th, 100th, and 1000th person to chime in and say he was wrong, is there?

I think so many people are chiming in because they feel that wrong has been done and want to show their love for a nice non-chain petstore. They have to work hard enough to keep their doors open without someone that doesnt know the real story to jump on a public place and bash them. I thinks its a good thing to see so many people come out and show their support to a nice petstore and nicer staff.

It's one thing to support the pet store, it's another to continue to repeatedly berate the thread starter. One can show his/her support for Pet's Playhouse in this very thread without saying a single thing derogatory about the OP (and there is evidence of respectful people doing so).

I haven't said anything about the OP and I don't condone anyone to but, the op also hasn't been back to this thread for an appolgy or anything. I'm not saying anything about them cause its clear they care a lot about fish and have a big heart. So to me they must be a good person but, they could've came back and said something. But I will show anger to them in anyway as I don't know them.
