I have a pistol paired with a watchman goby in an 8 gallon tank and my water is constantly cloudy. He has also completely changed my rockwork. What is the smallest size tank where i will not see all the floating debris? Would he do damage to the rockwork structure in a 75- he is less than an inch in length. I guess I need to make sure the rockwork is sitting on the glass.......

I am tired of seeing a cloudy tank but he is fun to watch. Hope he doesn't get lost in the 75. i would add him to my 38 but then would be really worried about rock stability.

Anyone have pistols in large tank and still see them?

    thanks!

My pistol was fine in a 14g biocube deep sand bed. He did have some particularly vigorous digging days which clouded over but that was usually directly following a water change or rock work structure change on my behalf and him correcting what I 'messed up'. lol. I don't feel like the water was cloudy much at all after he settled in and found his routine. And I had him for a long time in that cube. Oh and p.s. my rockwork wasn't on the glass with a nearly 3" sand bed in that cube he did fine making a large cave/tunnel system under all the rockwork and hung out mostly in there.

Back when I had him in my 8g cube it was miserably cloudy all the time. Don't know if it was due to the relatively shallow bed I kept in there (he seemed to be constantly moving it) or the lack of rock work/space for him to crawl up under).

Oh and for what it's worth he was also in a 90g and I found him coming out just as often as he was in the 14g cube maybe a bit more actually. He didn't really put a dent into the rockwork structure in that tank he just made lots of caves and would swing back and forth between his two favorites. I liked him best in the 14g cube since I could see him a bit more upclose. Seemed in the 90g he put a couple of his caves in the back side of the rock work. :/

Not sure if that helps you any, just thought I'd share my experiences. /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/wink.gif

The 75 is going to be a shallow sand bad-less than 1 inch. Wonder if he will be happy with so little sand.

My pistol was perfectly happy in my 14g biocube, the sand bed was approximately two inches deep. He would move sand around but it wouldn't cause any visibility issues.

Now I've moved him into a 29gBC with a slightly less deep sand bed. He will do some construction that causes plumes of sand to come up, but honestly my maroon clown causes more sand issues than him. The clown moves dunes of sand.
