I just set up my 65g with a 29g sump and I have seen people put different types of algae in theirs, so my questions are what types are there, what are the benefits, and where do I get some? Thanks!

Benefits are a natural method of reducing nitrates and phosphates.
Chaeto is an often used macro that does a good job, stays compact, grows at a decent rate, also a good pod habitat.
Dragons breath, red bush, ulva, halmedia, gracillara (sp) , mangroves, turtle grass, are some others.
Caulerpa is one that I like, but can spread all over if not pruned regularly. Thread a few different types.
If you Google macroalgae you'll find a other types as there's a bunch more. Those above are just ones I have.
Chaeto is what a lot of people use as it is one of the better ones for nutrient export, others use less nutrients and are more decorative.
None of them will completly strip the water of nitrates and phosphates tho unless theres a big amount of macro algae or the nutrient level is very low to begin with. Some can tolerate low nutrients and some won't.

www.Reefs2go.com has great macroalgae bundle deals. I personal like some the algae that grow leaves. I feed these leaves to my Angels and Tangs. They love it and is a great natural diet.

Reefs2go is pretty good, a lot of their macros go outta stock alot tho. Gray st aquatics on eBay is really good too and the portions you get are big bushes compared to say a lareefs who basically give you a small 1 strand frag, which if its a rare macro is ok but common ones not so much. They used to have a metallic color changing one that was really cool.
For Chaeto, ask local and surely someone would just give you a bag, I've given a ton away, as that's how you export the nutrients, grow and remove a portion, grow some more, repeat

I run a 2700 cfl bulb for five hours on the fourth and two 6000 on the 75 for three hours. The 40seems to grow faster but I think that has to do with the red spectrum causing plants to grow stringy where the blue causes them to grow dense.
So short answer no. Hardly any.
We will be around all weekend. 319-855-2469 lemme know
