    Hey all,
I was thinking of putting an old wet/dry (all media removed) to use as a refugium. Here's the plan:

I may move the heater to the return pump portion of the wet/dry (on the left). The line between chamber would be the same size bulkhead as the drains and returns on the Marineland 125. The white blobs are the filter socks for the drain. The black boxes are the pre-return sponges.

Should this work? Will it be enough flow for both ends?

    Thanks,
    Noah

Yeah that should work. Yes it's going to reduce flow through your main sump but what size pump/flow are you running right now? You may be able to step that up

That will be fine. Just make sure your connecting pipe between the refugium & skimmer is fairly large.

I'm waiting to implement this until I can get an adjustable Jebao DC pump that will allow me push the most water the overflows can handle. The line between the two will be 1.5", the same size as the drain pipe. So, the flow through rate should match the refugium's intake.

That brings a question that just came to me. At what height should I place the bottom of the refugium bulkhead to feed the sump's pump chamber?

That's a good idea, use an adjustable DC pump to alter your flow to your liking. The only thing I would change would be to increase the size of the connecting pipe. Especially so if you want to max out your same size 1.5" overflow line. You want an easy flow/transfer between the sump and fuge.

I would recommend putting the transfer pipe as low as you can since you're showing baffles in place to regulate water height.
