I'm really new to the saltwater hobby and i just purchased my first tank from a guy. now this is a 55 gal tank with only 4 65w compacts and no skimmer at the moment but he put some kind of sps and an anenome in there and i would like to get rid of them before they die(well before the sps dies) the anenome is doing ok its almost doubled in size since ive had it, and it eats alot. the guy told me it got stuck in the filter and lost most of the arms but it is regenerating well. when the sps got here it was half covered in brown stuff but it went away after a couple days but now has some algea on it. ill post some pics to show before i got them and now. like i said im very new to this hobby and i dont now what there worth but i would maybe trade for a couple of frags that would be good for a beginner and are ok in lower light(preferably some kind of bright blue green or orange softy) if not i'd prolly just give them away just to give them a better chance at living. check out my tank thread its http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1829519  please pm me if your interested i live in greene county

Yep /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/sad.gif  It actually was alive when you first got it.  The brown stuff was the living tissue, depleted of adequate light, so brown.  But looks like that has all died off and is now covered in algae.  What kind of light are you running?  The anemone's color looks a little off.........

Oh ok, I see what light you have now.......yeah, inadequate for sps for sure and probably not enough for the anemone. The anemone was probably trying to get to better light when it got stuck in the powerhead....sad /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/hybrid//emoticons/sad.gif Get a skimmer going as soon as you can and it will help with the algae issue. Make sure to use RODI water too. Get it at Walmart if you don't have an RODI unit yet. Good luck and welcome to the hobby.

That is a common anemone. I would say your lighting is fine for it. Most anemones do not require bright light just decent light.

well thats good to hear but judging by the picture from the old owner it looks like it takes up alot of space when healed. i would still be willing to give it away.Oh and this is a little off topic but i also have an rc plane that ive been trying to sell, i would be willing to trade it for a few frags. it is a hobbyzone supercub lp only flown twice, i paid $180 for it and it still works great but i decided to stick with helis.

I may be interested in the plane. Do you have any pics? I have lots of zoas to trade also have star polyps and mushrooms that would do good in your tank. Also where are you located?

I have a condy and he has been through hell and back and came out fine. As pretty as can be now. I would keep him and let him be. Feed a little piece of fish/shrimp/whaetever else seafood once a week or so and see if it will eat. I am sure he will pull through.
