So I just introduced a yellow tang, a little bit smaller than my powder blue. The powder blue is such a timid fish, I didn't think it would be an issue. That thing comes bolting out of the rocks at lightning speed after the yellow tang. I work graveyard tonight so I am super nervous about what is going to happen. I would feel REALLY bad if something happened to this guy. Anything I can do other than cross my fingers and hope for the best? /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/unsure.gif

Are the lights out? I'd think that might help.

Indeed they are. I suppose I can try and just leave the room in complete darkness (which is what will happen anyway in about an hour when I leave for work).

Well, the YT looks ok this morning but the PB was still being evil. Crossing my fingers here...

I had a pow blue and a pow brown battle continuously for two weeks. Then one day they gave up and agreed to avoid each other.

I also had two yellow tangs extremely pissed when I introduced a purple tang. After four days all was cool.

Just let them do battle. It will only make them stronger.

Note to everyone: This is a great example of why you need to QT new fish. You need to build them up. Because when you dump them in your DT, that fish has to battle and find a home.

I got the fish from JTown's established tank (I know you weren't saying to QT for parasites, I just wanted to point out I didn;t just dump a "strange" fish into a tank). Can you explain how quarantining this fish would have helped my situation though?

I was just using your story as an example of why one might consider QT.

In your situation I'm not sure QT would have helped any. In my situation, I bought the pow brown from drs foster smith. He arrived healthy as hell, but he was tired from the journey. I QT him for a couple weeks....same water as DT so when I moved him that element of change was eliminated. He went to the DT big and strong, ready to fight. If I would have thrown him in the DT without QT he would have probably been toast.

Ah I see. That makes sense. I thought somehow something about a QT would have helped me. That is a very interested aspect of QT that I don't think I have ever heard discussed. Thanks for that!

I did the same thing with a yellow, already had a powder. The powder thought he would win and the battle went on for almost ten days. I was scared the whole time but eventually they cooled off. Keep the tank as dark as possible. It seems like it calms them down alot. Good luck, when do I get to come see your tank

They seem to be doing better now, although the YT has some battle scars on his fins. I do hope they heal nicely as he was a very pretty specimen /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/sad.gif
