SO I had a filter sock overflow last night and it got to the power supplies for my AI Sols. I put them in rice and folded my hands in prayer. What are the chances they come back to me?

Did u rinse them in ro? If so chances are good. If not salt will corrode the metal components on the inside...

See if you can open up the plastic casing and shake any water out that got inside. Also if you get it open perhaps get some electrical component cleaner from radioshack and qtip off the inside so you don't get salt accumulation….

better question is why are they sitting somewhere they can get wet.

Saltwater and electricity do not mix. Keep power supplies, power strips ect. Where they will not get wet by floods, splashing, salt creep.

Yeah, I know. I had to do some work and things got moved without my knowledge.

I didn't rinse them, like I said, I put them in rice to draw the moisture out.

Fingers crossed. I guess I'm not as worried about the power supplies as I am the lights themselves. Hoping no damage was done there.

Hard telling. Power supplies may have sent a purge to the lights. But rice will pull the moisture but not the salt. That will corrode the components worse than rust imo

Just giving you crap because I remember something mentioned on the tank tour about all the electrical under your stand that close to the sump...Can't say I'm not guilty of having electrical too close too water though. I splashed some water on my power strip on the tank upstairs during a water change and shorted that out.

I wouldn't think any damage would be done to the light.

If the power supplies are dead you might be able to find a cheap power supply to replace them instead of going through AI. There really is nothing special about them. Just find one with all the same specs. I believe it was Waverz that found one off ebay that was compatable with the AIs.

Just buy the same amp rating or larger. $10 on ebay. I had to do it with my mp10 recently.

I just tested the fixtures. They work. Power supplies still dead. I will look into eBay supplies.

If they had power on them when water got on them I would bet they are goners, but making sure all salt is off them would be first step then drying them may work. Buying new powers supply would set me at more ease.

Just an FYI: I got the powersupply waverz referred me to. From a Chinese manufacturer so it took a while to get here but the quality is good, maybe better than the original. I'd recommend.
If anyone needs them I can dig out the link.
