Hello guys! I signed this website few weeks ago and still rookie with this site. Little about myself, I stated this hobby last Feb with 29 gal bio cube. I decided to get bigger tank started few weeks ago.120 gal with 40 gal sump. Anyone have used powerhead I could buy from? Other question, how do you guys get rid of redslime naturally? I used redslime remover but wanted to do differently and natural way. Thanks for your time!
    Nick

There are a few things you can try to naturally remove the red slime. Since red slime(cyanobactera) really thrives with high phosphate and high nitrates, it is important to get these things down as much as you can.
Water changes(I'm assuming you use R/O water?) and phosphate/nitrate competitors such as macroalgae are usually the first things to try, along with reducing light exposure and making sure that you aren't overfeeding. Another important thing is to make sure you have good water flow, and eliminate possible dead zones.
Some people have  luck with cleanup crews, but they rarely have much success. (cyanobacteria is actually pretty toxic if ingested to most things, hence why they don't eat it)
I'm sure there are lots of other people on here with more experience and input than me, but in my opinion these are the easiest things to do first.
Just be patient with it, as trying to physically remove it can just make things worse if some of it gets moved around and settles elsewhere, compounding your problem.

I have a number of powerheads laying around. What are you planning to use it for? Do you already have other powerheads in here? I have a number of Hydor Koralias of varying sizes as well as a Coralvue dual powerhead. Let me know.

Shane- Thanks for tips! I got 150 lbs liverock that had redslime already on it and got great deal out of it. I been playing with my water flow from the pump, trying not having dead flow. No luck, next step is to look for powerheads. /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif

Aj- I have not find any powerhead in here yet. I'm planning to use to get rid of dead zone as well and of course getting rid of redslme. What would you recommend for size of powerhead in 120 gal? Let me know. Thank you.

Well, the amount of flow you need in your tank depends on what kind of corals you plan to keep. What do you plan on? Softies/LPS or do you plan to try your hand at SPS too? Many start with softies/lps and do sps later.
