Per a couple of recent posts (zoafreak) there seems to be an issue posting pics. You can post the links from photobucket for example and submit, but the links show up not the pics. If you "edit" the post, the pics show up in the window and then if you "save", the pics show up in the post. I have had to do this "edit & save" step multiple times in order to get a single post to work.

This lesson should include methods to scale back the size of pictures before linking to them. By that I mean the file size. This site does not handle large pictures or lots of pictures very well.

Per the issue with Zoafreak's pics, Photobucket users need to have the Link Back Option turned off. This option is the brainchild of some frickin genius at PB who probably wanted people to be driven to their site by embedding code into the link to make the picture clickable, whereas before clicking a referenced link did nothing.

The result is that the "a href" code which works on every other forum engine does not work on DNN, and the links just show up as HTML code instead.

PB users need to go to User Setting (click username in upper right after logging in) then Albums tab, and uncheck the "Link Back Option" box.

While on that page, users should also check the "Easy Linking Mode" box. This will add back the fields adjacent to each picture in albums when viewing as thumbnails. This was removed with the last PB update, again probably by the same f-ing genius that came up with the Link Back Option. The difference now is that before when you could just click once on the desired field and it would auto-copy that link to the clipboard (awesome when posting tons of pics) you now have to click then CTRL+C to copy the link. I asked them to add that function back in and they said they could not because of the way the field was now coded.

After making these option selection changes, one should send a message to Photobucket thanking them for screwing up what previously worked perfectly. Or not, because that is a futile effort.

Additional step: After unchecking the "Link Back Option" box, you must click "save"

This will change the HTML box code from:

    [code][IMG][/code]

    to:

    [code][IMG][/code] The latter works

Ok this is f'd up now. Because in this above post, the code shows up when viewed in the thread because of the 'code' blocks. But when I go into EDIT mode, both links show a picture in the editor mode are replaced BY THE PICTURE!!! WTF

Still having this issue but I don't understand why still!! Frustrating! Zoafreak is still having the "a href" code pull in for some reason when pasting.

If you look at the code blocks above however you will notice that the only difference between these 2 is that the first on has 3 sections of code:

    [code][/code]

    [code][IMG][/code]

    [code]
    [/code]

And the second one is just the middle section. So when pasting in the code, if the "a href" and "/a" parts of the code are still showing up, just delete them.

    [code][IMG] [/code]

This is the code that shows up in my HTML link box. Is thus not what you are seeing?

    Are you logged in?

Do you have a paid account?

Post a screenshot of you Photobucket page, showing the HTML box and the field that has the start of the code in it.

Why not just use the attachment buttom below the typing area? Find the pic you want and hit insert pic. Not everyone have that?

I thought I heard of that not showing up on tablets and similar devices, but I could be mistaking it for something else.

Either way, posting pictures should not be this problematic. Sometimes they work, sometimes they do not. Its a pain in the ***.

If its on your hard drive yes that works and only after you edit your post. If you using a hosted picture then that don't work.

Nik is here and I verified that when you do not have a paid account with Photobucket, the Link Back Option is forced to "on" regardless of the setting.

However, the way to make the pictures work even with that option is not to use the Quick Reply box, but instead to click "add reply" and then use the image insert button and paste the code there. Here is an example of the difference:

direct paste of HTML code with link back option on

The forum is flakey. Even posting under different sub forums, general, photos, regional forums etc. things seem to work different.
