Well, I picked up my new shipment of pukani rock from BRS.  It's been soaking Since Sunday and man does that stuff smell bad.  Water was brownish yellow day 1 and smells horrible now.  Glad I was patient and started cooking it rather than throw it right in the tank.
Going to give this stuff about 3-4 weeks before going into the tank.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. My house smells so bad right now! I have been doing a 50% water change everyday. And the water seems to be getting nastier and nastier. If you aren't already, I would start doing the daily water changes as well. I can't believe how quickly the water became disgusting.

Just think how much great bacteria you are going to have once everything stops dying.

Crazy thing is I didn't even bother rinsing mine off, could have been part of the reason I had an algae problem for so long. LOL

I'm definately looking forward to being done with the cycle and getting that rock into my tank. No more smell, and that rock is awesome stuff. Can't believe how light it is for the size of it.

It is light and BRS ships huge pieces. I've also found it to be a bit brittle so I think making sure that pieces are firmly seated is in order. If you join them, make sure that you go thru plenty of rock so you don't have an edge break off resulting in a collapse.

One week and one water change later, not so bad. Water is much clearer and far less smell. I'm getting anxious to get this into the tank. Good advice on the collapse possibility AJ. That stuff is brittle.
