A few months ago I was about to tear my tank down due to lack of interest. After some thought I decided to keep it running. I've always had a reef tank of some sort running for the last 13 years. I don't know what I would do with myself if I didn't have a tank to look after.

I've been running a pair of SOL whites on my 60 cube for over a year now. I'm mainly into SPS and for me growth as been pretty good (even with only doing small monthly water changes) but there a few that just don't seem to have the color they should.

It's been a very long time since I've upgraded anything on my tank so I figured it was time and pulled the trigger on the Vega Color upgrade. The plan is to use the Vegas on my reef tank and use the leftover parts on my poison dart frog vivarium.

LED's are just now popping into the terrerium hobby for the most part. Hopefully the SOL whites provide enough spectrum for plant growth. Only time will tell I guess.

Now the hard part, how do i explain to the wife why I spent $700 on lights? /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/crazy.gif

Try upgrading just one. I have one Vega on my 60 cube and coverage is alright. Its only been about 4 months since upgrading to the 60, and things are still adjusting so can't comment on results.

EDIT: nevermind I see you already pulled the trigger.

Any idea on what kind of PAR your getting with the single fixture?

I originally tried running my 60 cube with one sol and it was pretty weak looking even with switching optics.

I'll try using just one to start but I've got a feeling I'm going to need to do both.

Not sure. I think AI has numbers on its website for a single unit with 24" by 24" coverage. I'm trying to use minimal equipment. I have slowly got up to 40wh 10rd 10gn 70 on all the blues and don't think I need to go any higher. My frags are all sitting on the sandbed and doing well after most of them bleached initially. Ideally I would run a couple of T5s to take out some of the shadows that a single unit put off. I have my light about 8 inches from the surface. What other equipment are you running on your 60?

I'm just running an external octopus 110 fed by a tunze silence controllable, tunze silence return, 2 tunze turbelle for circulation.
For now I am using a diy kalk stirrer with my ato for ca and alk supplementation but I do own a Korallin ca reactor I just haven't had to put it online yet.
