I have some extra Cheato in my sump I want to pull out. I have a Quarantine tank currently running with a powder blue tang I just put in. Will there be any benefit to putting the Cheato in the QT for a few weeks?

I know the Cheato will not survive in the QT for long as it has died off in the past with the little amount of light I have in there but I figured it could do some good as opposed to just throwing it away. I don’t expect the tang to eat much from it but at minimum it may get a few pods.

My only concern was if the Cheato starts to die off will it excrete any chemicals that would be harmful to the QT?

    Thoughts?

I don't know that it would excrete anything when it dies off. If you notice it dying you could always pull it out. Your tang might actually eat it as well. I've had tangs that would eat chaeto.
