So just a few questions. I am getting ready to purchase a few tangs in the upcoming months. I want to be ready so I want to know as much as possible. How long should I quaranten? Should I be medicating while in the QT? What should I be using for medication? How big of a QT should i be using? I think thats it. Any more info would be greatly appreciated. I have quarantened all my fish but haven't treated for ich so i want to make sure that crap doesn't make it to my tank. I know I should be buying from a clean facility and i couldn't agree more but, I like to play the better safe then sorry approach to everything I don't wanna have to treat a whole tank after the fact. Thanks in advance for any info.

If there are no issues I QT for 2 weeks use a cooper based product. The size of the QT depends on the size of your fish. Tangs are the worst when it comes to ick so QT all the way!

QT, but with tanks, you need a larger QT tank. After they get settled in & eating well, I would slowly add some copper to ensure they are disease free. The ich cyle is 28 days, so that is the minimum I would go. Six weeks is the standard if people are worried about ich. Slowly warming up the tank will speed up the ich cycle making it quicker too

Craig is spot on :0) Use pvc for hiding/sleeping. I would suggest using Garlic also as it stimulates appetites and helps the immune system. Monitor ammonia and do WC's as needed. Go 6 weeks in QT which will give the fish and you time to 'buddy' up :0) Make sure they get algae /Nori every day too:0) Following Craig's lead, etc and things should go well :0)
