   what does everybody think of gen x pumps? and if not what do you guys prefer

   I've only used a Gen-X needlewheel pump and it was ok. What are you going to use it for? I prefer Eheim but Ocean Runners are good and cheaper than Eheims.

   I have a Gen-x needle wheel pump attached to my skimmer, it's pretty good.  My skimmer is kind of noisy though, I'm not sure if it's the pump or the skimmer.

   They make a fairly good NW skimmer pump. They have had many issues with rust when used internally and there are people on both sides of the issue as to how harmful that is.
